Pending board approval Fairbanks High School has a new head volleyball coach. Athletic director Larry Morris announced late Monday that Ryanne Ufferman has been named, pending approval by the district’s board of education, to take the place of Ed Marsman, who retired at the conclusion of the 2019 season. YOUNG There will be a new person in charge of the Marysville High School girls basketball program next winter. Brooke Young told the Journal-Tribune this morning that she has stepped down from the head coaching position. Young stated she told her team Tuesday afternoon. “I am stepping down for family and personal reasons,” Young told the newspaper. Young guided the Lady Monarchs to a 21-25 record during the past two seasons. The Lady Pioneers of Jonathan Alder won a tough battle Tuesday evening in turning back Bloom-Carroll, 30-21. The verdict came during the Division II district semifinals at Hamilton Township High School. Alder’s 12 points during the opening quarter provided the most offensive spark of the night for either squad. Top-seeded JA (22-3) took a 12-9 edge into the second period and emerged with a 15-14 lead at halftime.
