Jonathan Alder’s wrestling team competed in the Division II regional duals tournament on Saturday at St. Paris Graham. The Pioneers, who were the sixth-seeded team, earned a first-round bye and then defeated No. 11 Milton-Union, 42-34. That victory was followed by a 41-30 triumph over No. 3 London. Whenever MHS gridiron warriors have taken the field for the past 45 years, Sabins has been there, ready to chronicle what local players do as far as game stats. For his work as a Monarch football statistician, Sabins is being inducted as an honorary member of the Marysville High School Athletic Hall of Fame. One of the longest-serving and most successful baseball coaches in Marysville High School history is joining the elite of Monarch athletic lore. Retired coach Ed Starling will be inducted into the MHS Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday. Starling began his Monarch diamond career in the spring of 1981 and led the program through the conclusion of the 2007 campaign. Along the way, the Monarchs won five conference championships (1984, 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1997) and the 1992 district title. The Monarchs finished as district runners-up in 1993 and 1994.
