Two local nonprofit organizations are recommended to receive nearly $21,000 to assist Union County residents with rent and mortgage costs. The Hope Center will receive $12,973 from Phase CARES while Bridges Community Action Partnership will receive $8,009 from Phase 37. The plan to award the monies was submitted by the Union County Local Review Board. Both agencies will use the funding to supplement emergency rent and mortgage assistance in the county under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (ESFP). According to Marysville Police Department reports: Police responded to a report of drug abuse (marijuana) and an open container in a stationary motor vehicle in the 500 block of Coleman’s Crossing Blvd. at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday. Reports indicate MPD checked on a suspicious person in a vehicle at a store parking lot. The subject reported being homeless and living in his vehicle. Crews have started creating infrastructure for the 264-unit Kenmore Place apartment complex to be built on 18.76 acres behind Meijer on Coleman’s Crossing Boulevard. The complex is planned to have 11, three-story apartment buildings and a single-story clubhouse. Officials were called to the scene of an accident at 4:23 a.m. today on Route 161 west of Route 38 near Chuckery. Chief Deputy Tom Morgan said a driver was operating a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer westbound on Route 161 when he lost control, drove off the road and struck a utility pole. He said the utility pole caught fire, creating heavy smoke in the area and causing several wires to go down.
