With COVID-19 regulations easing for sports, the Marysville boy’s basketball program has set up times to host their annual PIT camp. The first session, which is for student-athletes entering grades 7th-9th for the 2020-2021 school year, will run from July 6-9 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Marysville High School. The second session, which is for student athletes entering grades 3rd-6th for the 2020-2021 school year, will run from August 3-6 from 9 a.m. to noon at Marysville High School. Bobby Gerald “Jerry” Newell, 66, of Sunbury died unexpectedly Sunday, June 21, 2020 at his residence. He was the owner and operator of Newell’s Lawn Service. He was also a former spotter and security for Nestle and former laborer with Select Sires. He was born May 14, 1954 in Marysville to the late Lee E. and Betty M. (Kinniard) Newell. Dear Editor, Wednesday’s headline article announcing Scott’s refusal of a property tax abatement was a first for me. It seems that city councils “giving away the farm” is the only way the game is played these days. And Scotts says we can do without the abatement because the community has been good for us. Hooray!
