A local man is facing a sixth drunk driving charge after he nearly ran over a deputy at the Union County Fair. Phillip Salmons, 50, of 11007 Watkins Road, Marysville, has been indicted by the Union County Grand Jury. He is charged with one count each of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and endangering children. The grand jury has also added a specification that Salmons be identified and labeled as a repeat offender. A local official has been named to a statewide board. An alleged heroin trafficker could be facing additional prison time after allegedly fleeing during a scheduled doctor’s visit. Jason E. Maynard, 43, of 923 Van Kirk Dr., Marysville, is charged with one count of escape, stemming from a June incident. Maynard was at TriCounty Regional Jail awaiting trial on 2017 drug charges. He was released on a furlough, “supposed to go to an appointment at Maryhaven,” Phillips said. A local man is facing prison time after allegedly taking a car then pushing a police officer. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Gregory Wayne Blevins, 45, of 30530 Lemasters Road, Richwood. Blevins is charged with one count each of assault, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstructing official business stemming from a July 26 incident. If convicted on all counts, Blevins could face as many as 36 months in prison. Route 736, between Marysville and Plain City was closed for a house fire Tuesday afternoon. At 4:26 p.m., crews were called to 8500 Route 736. At the scene, firefighters found light smoke coming from the basement of the house. Crews found a small fire in the basement. While investigating, fire officials found some structural damage to the house. Jerome Township Fire Chief Doug Stewart said it looks like a propane tank exploded, causing the damage.
