Marysville’s recently formed ad hoc committee to discuss council rules has started discussion on a section that would allow the body to expel one of its members. At the conclusion of Thursday’s meeting, Law Director Tim Aslaner introduced a seventh section, titled Expulsion, to the Rules of Council document. The Union County Commissioners this week held discussions to better understand how solar farms could impact the community. “They (solar farms) have been good to work with,” said Hardin County Commissioner Roger Crowe, who participated in Tuesday’s commissioner’s meeting. Crowe said phase one of the Hardin Solar project went on line at the end of December. He said there are two other phases planned for the project. In 2020, Invenergy and Acciona Energy each applied to construct solar energy projects in the northern part of Union County. A Marysville man is accused of stealing more than $6,000 worth of guitars from a relative. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Barrett Torbert, 36, of 1851 Creekview Dr., Marysville. Torbert is charged with two counts of theft and two counts of receiving stolen property. According to court documents, Torbert and the victim were related and lived together. The owner noticed that one of his guitars, a Gibson valued at $4,849, was missing. He went looking and found another guitar, a Suhr valued at $2,175, was also missing. Tops 2019 figure by nearly $3 million; Carryover funds push past $24 million total Despite a pandemic, Union County’s general fund saw record revenue for 2020. According to the Union County Auditor’s Office, Union County’s general fund received more than $28.1 million for 2020. In 2019, the county had then-record revenue of $25.26 million. A local has been indicted again, marking the third time in three months he is accused of attacking the same woman. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Joseph R. Boerger, 40, of 433 Ash St., Marysville. He is charged with domestic violence, a felony of the fourth degree. In November Boerger was indicted on two counts of domestic violence for separate incidents in October. Marysville City Council spent much of its Monday work session talking about itself. At the meeting, council discussed a series of specific changes as well as some philosophical questions. The topic began as council discussed a series of proposed changes to council meetings. A Marion man will spend at least 18 years in prison for the rape of a 14-year old local girl. Union County Common Pleas Court Judge Don Fraser recently sentenced Jaden Michael Thomas Darst-Mullins, 19, to 18 to 23 years in prison. DARST-MULLINS In November, Darst-Mullins pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and one count of kidnapping. A trespassing investigation at a local church has led to felony charges against a Columbus man. Roy Lee Anderson, 38, whose latest court-listed address is Columbus, is charged with one count of violating a protection order. ANDERSON Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips said that at about 8:42 p.m., Nov. 29, law enforcement officials went to a church on Waldo Road on a trespassing complaint. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Charles Lee McDaniel, 32, whose last known address is 15839 Myers Road, Marysville and Ashley Brook Weaver, 34, of Grafton, West Virginia. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Brian Keith Watkins, 42, whose court listed address is the Corrections Reception Center in Orient, and his wife Clarice Watkins, 48, of Delaware.
