There is a new Pigskin Pickers leader in the clubhouse going into the college football bowl season. Reporter Mac Cordell won six of last week’s eight games and has now taken the overall lead. Cordell stands at 87-39 for the season. He was tied last week for the top with publisher Kevin Behrens and sports editor Tim Miller at 81-37. Miller and Behrens slipped to 4-4 for the week. Triad’s girls varsity basketball squad lost a 58-23 verdict to Shawnee earlier this week. The setback dropped the Lady Cardinals’ record to 0-2. Shawnee jumped out to an 18-6 advantage by the end of the opening quarter. The Braves’ margin expanded to 30-15 by halftime. Shawnee took a 56-20 lead into the final eight minutes of play.
