The businesses of Plain City are hosting a special Ladies’ Night event prior to Mother’s Day weekend. Mayor Jody Carney said a number of Uptown businesses will offer promotions from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 6. Each participant can pick up a “passport” at any of the participating businesses. Throughout the night, they can stop by each store to receive a stamp. If they complete their passport, Carney said they will be entered in a raffle to win a prize basket. A Marysville man could be facing several years behind bars. According to the Marysville Division of Police, William Ray Loveless III, 18, of 743 Kenny Lane, Apartment C, has been charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle. According to court documents, witnesses saw Loveless allegedly stealing a Subaru from an apartment complex in the 600 block of Ninth Street in Marysville. About 7:52 p.m., Sunday, Loveless allegedly used a duplicate key to steal the vehicle, according to the police documents. Within minutes, Loveless was stopped by police. A tree was planted Friday, on Earth Day, in Plain City’s Pastime Park. The Sugar Maple tree was planted in honor of Jim Moore. Owner of Jim’s Diner in the village, Moore was a longtime resident and council member before his death in December. Marysville High School and Early College High School held a joint prom in the fieldhouse Saturday evening. Although it may be tough to see, because of the dim lighting in the photo above, the students were kept in groups of ten and allowed to dance in separate sections of the facility, marked off by tape. The groups were identified by different colored glowing bracelets given out upon entry. The Monarch boys lacrosse squad defeated Buckeye Valley and fell to Olentangy and Bexley during recent matches. MHS toppled BV, 8-1. Isaac Tocci tallied three goals, while Ben Durey added two. Jordan Anspach, Mark Frendberg and Braiden Henson each scored once. Griffin Ahlstrom finished with four saves in the net. Olentangy shut out Marysville, 18-0. The Monarchs fell to Bexley, 11-6.
