The coronavirus has taken its toll on the local economy as many businesses are closed while others have employees working from home. Vickie Lynn Smart, 66, of Lewis Center died peacefully Monday, March 30 at home following a long battle with cancer. Born Feb. 16, 1954 in Cincinnati to James M. and Delores (Ritter) Hon, she was a 1972 graduate and member of the Honor Society at Buckeye Valley High School. Delores A. Woodworth, 78, of Milford Center died unexpectedly Monday morning at her residence. She was retired after 33 years of service with Ranco in Plain City. Following her retirement from Ranco, she and her husband operated Woody’s Dairy Bar in Milford Center for 12 years. Reports indicate the reporting person indicated their front door was kicked in, but nothing was taken from their residence. The door frame was damaged beyond repair. Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Miller of Mink Street Road near Ostrander are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. Miller and the former Juanita Cremeans were married on April 1, 1960 by the Rev. Don Webb at the Magnetic Springs United Methodist Church. Mr. Miller is retired from the Scotts Company in Marysville and Mrs. Miller is retired from Marion General Home Health Nursing in Marion. The Union County Health Department received notice Monday of a fourth, lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in the county. The affected individual is an adult female. As of March 30, UCHD reports three adult females and one adult male have tested positive for the virus in Union County. A contact investigation is underway to identify and notify close contacts of the individual. Those in close contact to the individual will be notified by public health. The Free Little Library on West Fourth Street in Marysville is temporarily closed at the advice of the owner’s doctor. The owner, allowed users time to retrieve books before closing the library and has provided an option of some books that have not been touched since before the virus. The owner did recommend users wash their hands after taking a book and after reading it. A person of great faith, she was a longtime member of The Restored Church of God. In her employment years, she was a home care health aid and nurse aid.
