Roads were closed, trees poles and homes were damaged and power was out in portions of northern Union County after a severe thunderstorm moved through the area Tuesday evening. Officials said they believe straight line winds broke 10 large transmission line poles (left photo) on Route 37, between Richwood and Essex. Officials said additional power poles were damaged throughout the area. Ohio Edison estimated the damage took out power for 1,200 residents. Crews worked to re-route power to the village by midnight. The 58th reunion of the John Parthemore Morse and Mary Jane Mitchell Morse family was held on June 23, 2019 at the home of Pam Morse and Teresa Wallis. The business meeting was conducted by President Chad Morse. All officers were retained for the next year. Scottslawn Road, from Route 736 to the area between the Heritage grain facility entrance and the railroad crossing at the Scotts plant, closed Monday so work on the road could begin. The road will be widened and resurfaced. It will include the addition of moving utility poles and new turn lanes as well as a minor curve realignment.
