A few hundred people gathered in uptown Marysville early Sunday evening for a peaceful protest over the killing of George Floyd, who died while being restrained by Minneapolis Police on Memorial Day. The bulk of the local protesters were located across of Marysville City Hall at Partners Park, but others stretched down Main and Fifth streets. Local fire departments responded to the scene of a residence fire early this morning. According to Jerome Township Division of Fire Chief Douglas Stewart, crews were dispatched to a reported house fire at 7841 Mitchell Dewitt Road at 12:15 a.m. Monday. When crews arrived, Stewart said there was “heavy fire” from the back of the house, in the area of the attic. Stewart said all occupants were out of the house upon arrival of crews. Patricia Ann Johnson, 63, of Columbus and formerly of Marysville died May 24 at her home with her loving daughter by her side. She worked as a customer service representative for Parker-Dennison and was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Marysville. She enjoyed listening to classic rock, exploring nature and traveling with her family, especially their trips to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Mary E. Tomblin, 68, of Marysville died unexpectedly Friday morning, May 29 at her home in Marysville. A person of great faith, she went home to be with her Lord following declining health in recent months. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
