According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, a 2004 Kia Spectra, pictured above, driven by Molly L. Messer, 26, of Urbana, struck the back of a 2011 Dodge Ram at the intersection of Route 4 and Collins Avenue at 3:29 p.m. Tuesday. Messer was issued a traffic citation for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead. Deputies and units from the Marysville Fire Department assisted at the scene. Loran D. Eastman, 83, of Marysville, died peacefully Monday morning, March 4, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He retired from working at the City of Marysville’s water department, where he worked as a meter reader, serviceman and in the treatment facility for more than 33 years. He also worked for the Erie Lackawanna railroad for 10 years. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he attended Living Waters Church of God. Betty Ann Rea, 85, of Gahanna, died March 1, 2019. She was known as a loving mother and also the “very best grandmother.” She worked as the head cook for many schools in the Gahanna City School District for several years. Reinhard F.H. Blumenschein, 91, of Marysville, died Friday morning, March 1, 2019, at his home following many of months of failing health. A longtime dairy, livestock and grain farmer, he was known for his strong work ethic. In defense of Dungeons and Dragons For those of us who are paid to be storytellers, like myself and others at the Journal-Tribune, do we practice storytelling recreationally? Some people write fiction to get the creative juices out, and others prefer to tell stories to their children. I can respect those positions, but I would also recommend to those people that they should try Dungeons and Dragons, or DND.
