April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging motorists to commit to eliminating distractions while behind the wheel. Ohio’s distracted driving law became a primary offense last April after Gov. Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 288. When the law took effect, motorists were given a six-month grace period before the law became enforceable. Elsie Elizabeth Boerger Kandel, age 99, of Marysville, died peacefully, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Heritage Senior Living with family at her side. A cosmetologist, she was a beautician early in her career. She retired in 1984 from the Ohio Reformatory for Women where she was associated for 23 years. Elsie was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed her faith.
